About the Project

Great Plains Energy Storage (Great Plains) is a planned 300 MW / 1200 MWh battery energy storage facility. It is ideally located on approximately 10 acres in Labette County, Kansas, at an entry point to Evergy’s existing electric transmission lines and poles. This critical grid infrastructure project will provide capacity and energy services to the regional electrical grid in Kansas, enhancing grid reliability, making the transmission grid more efficient, and accelerating the integration of advanced generation energy resources.
